Sealed Knot Skirmish at Shaw House 31st July-1st AugustVisitors to Shaw House on the 31st July & 1st August will be able to experience a small scale battle, sword training, and living history as the Sealed Knot will be inside and outside Shaw House over the weekend.
Skirmish
Throughout both days Sealed Knot members led by the local Earl Rivers' Regiment of Foote will be offering visitors the chance to find out about day to day life during the time of the Civil War. There will be demonstrations of pike, musket and sword drill and a skirmish each afternoon and lots of living history displays inside the house. The weekend will be fun packed and there is something for all the family to get involved with.All weekend Shaw House is open 11am – 5pm. There are eight historic rooms to look round with wheelie do activity stations throughout the house. In addition there is a permanent exhibition exploring the history of the house and the 2010 special exhibition 'Tradition Says...Shaw House and the Civil War'. Finally you can spoil yourself with a tasty treat from our café located in the old kitchen. Please note admission charge applies at the gate for this event., £3.75 adult, £3.00 concessions and £1.90 child (5-16 years) with a discount for West Berkshire residents card holders. Our new family ticket admits 2 adults and up to 3 children for just £9.90! |
